Email account compromised and sent spam

Over the weekend a client's email account was compromised and sent several hundred thousand spam messages through our mail server.

When we discovered the problem, we stopped all email sending services, cleared the queue of the spam messages, changed the passwords for the affected email accounts and blocked the originating IP addresses of the spam messages.

This kind of problem is often caused by a computer virus, malware, sharing email account settings or easy to guess passwords. Please be careful when opening attachments and downloads and use a strong password for your email account.

If you experience any problems with your email, please contact the Vista Interactive team.
