Email sending issues

Email sending limited A client has accidentally sent spam messages via our shared hosting server and as a result, sending mail is now limited. A computer infected with a virus or malware can send thousands of spam messages undetected.  Mail internal to our server is being delivered and external mail is being delivered to the mailboxes on our server. However email from our server is not currently arriving at external mailboxes and we are working with our hosting service provider to resolve this. We cannot guarantee delivery of recent messages because they may be delayed or blocked by external servers beyond our control. Make sure to follow safe internet usage. Use virus and malware scanning software. Only use trusted software and trusted internet links even if the source appears to from someone you know. To ensure that our server does not send spam, we are limiting the number of emails that can be sent per hour.

DNS Issues

There are issues with the DNS (domain name service) related to a server hosting websites and email for some of our clients. There is planned maintenance related to DNS scheduled for next week however this most likely a different issue. We are attempting to contact the service provider regarding this and monitoring the issue.

Horde webmail login problem

We are aware of a problem with login to webmail for customers on our main server using Horde. We are working to resolve this issue. Normal POP and IMAP access to email and the alternative webmail Roundcube are working. If you need us to change your webmail interface to Roundcube please contact us .

Problems with webmail

There are currently some problems with the Horde webmail interface, so we are switching customers to use the AtmailOpen interface until we have resolved the problem.

Horde webmail upgrade

With our recent Parallels Plesk upgrade, the default webmail client  Horde  has also been upgraded to version H5 (6.1.6). Customers using this webmail service will notice a very different user interface and so if you need help with using the new version, please contact us . If you prefer a different webmail, we also have the  Atmail Open  webmail interface available on this server and can switch this on for your domain. However, we recommend Horde because AtmailOpen is no longer being developed.

Email account compromised and sent spam

Over the weekend a client's email account was compromised and sent several hundred thousand spam messages through our mail server. When we discovered the problem, we stopped all email sending services, cleared the queue of the spam messages, changed the passwords for the affected email accounts and blocked the originating IP addresses of the spam messages. This kind of problem is often caused by a computer virus, malware, sharing email account settings or easy to guess passwords. Please be careful when opening attachments and downloads and use a strong password for your email account. If you experience any problems with your email, please contact the Vista Interactive team .

Email problems due to spam

Recently one of the email accounts on our server was compromised and was sending spam. We suspect  this was due to a virus or worm on their computer or their email username and password had been shared with other computers. Due to spam being sent from our mail server, some receiving mail servers temporarily blocked our mail server and so some of your outgoing mail may have been rejected.  The problem has been resolved now, so if you got a message that an email was not delivered, please try to send your email again. If we get reports of spam or notice spam coming from an email account on our server, we will change the password of the sending account and contact you. How to prevent your email account from being compromised: Please take care when installing software on your computer Regularly scan for viruses with an up to date virus checker Do not give your email username and password to anyone else Use a strong secure password Always log out when you finis...
