TYPO3 CMS 4.5 End of Support / Extension

Some of our customers are still using TYPO3 CMS 4.5 to power their websites. This was the first TYPO3 version with Long-Term-Support, but this is scheduled to end on 31 March 2015. 

 All customers should have upgraded to use the latest version TYPO3 CMS 6.2 LTS, but to accommodate installations that cannot upgrade, the TYPO3 association has offered to continue support of TYPO3 CMS 4.5 for another year. However for most customers the cost of this support would be greater than their upgrade cost.

We are contacting customers individually with offers to upgrade to TYPO3 CMS 6.2 LTS or to continue with TYPO3 CMS 4.5 support.

 'The TYPO3 CMS version 4.5, released in January 2011, is among the most popular TYPO3 versions on the web. While most companies and agencies have migrated their sites to more recent versions, there is still a large amount of sites that would need the 4.5 LTS for some longer time. The CMS team and the TYPO3 Association investigated the real-life cases and came to the conclusion that there is a number of projects that have trouble updating in the timeframe of the overlapping LTS versions. For these reasons, the TYPO3 CMS Team agreed to keep the version 4.5 security supported for another year.
